Despite reports to the contrary, one top WWE Superstar doesn’t want their original ring name back.
As Triple H continues to ring the changes in WWE after assuming creative control a number of stars have been able to revert to their former ring names.
Throughout 2022 a number of WWE Superstars have been renamed or have seen their ring names adapted. Austin Theory became Theory, WALTER was renamed Gunther, Pete Dunne is now known as Butch and Raquel Gonzalez debuted on Friday Night SmackDown as Raquel Rodriguez.
The changes didn’t sit well with a number of fans, while former NXT Women’s Champion Rodriguez publicly admitted that she wanted to keep her old name.
Following news that the policy regarding name changes had been scrapped, Riddle once again became Matt Riddle on Raw. After the show, it was noted that Theory would also be getting his full-name back.
However, speaking in a new interview with SHAK Wrestling, the star said that he doesn’t want his name back.
“I would say no just because I love Theory. To me, Austin was always the throw-on, my first name. Theory is what I created in the backyard as a kid. I love it. Theory. It’s all we need.”
Theory has enjoyed an impressive 2022 where he featured in a high-profile WrestleMania match and captured the United States Title. He is currently Mr Money In The Bank after claiming the briefcase back in early July.
Despite suggestions that the star could see his momentum slowed by the departure of Vince McMahon, it has been reported that Triple H still has big plans for the young Superstar.
