WWE Star Defends Roman Reigns Over Major Criticism

A top WWE Superstar has responded to a common fan complaint regarding Roman Reigns.

Although The Tribal Chief has held onto the Universal Championship for over 1,200 days and has surpassed Bruno Sammartino’s second reign, many have pointed out that the lengthy reign is somewhat devalued when Reigns hardly defends the title. Reigns only took part in 5 defences in 2023 and could be set for even less in 2024 if he successfully defends the title at WrestleMania 40.

According to reports, Roman Reigns will not be present at many international events over the next year, not advertised for Elimination Chamber, Backlash or Bash in Berlin. While some fans are annoyed that the top champion is more part-time than ever before, a former Rival of The Head of the Table thinks otherwise.

Speaking with TNT Sports, Jey Uso recalled the hard work that Reigns has put in over the course of his Hall of Fame worthy career and believes that the time off is warranted in the later years of Reigns’ career:

“I look at my cousin now, and I’m just happy at how far he’s come. From the day he walked into FCW developmental, to which I was there, to present. Inspiring. He’s the blueprint of what hard work does, and you can just never knock that, and he has a great work ethic. All the time that he has off, he deserves all that uce. He earned it.”

Reigns will next defend the Universal Championship against Randy Orton, LA Knight and AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble. Assuming the Undisputed Champion keeps ahold of the title in Florida, the next title defence is expected to be at WrestleMania. While not announced for the match, Jey Uso is expected to be a part of the Royal Rumble match on January 27th.

The Rock Comments On Facing Roman Reigns

On January 23rd, The Rock was named a member of the TKO Board of Directors, confirming that he will be a part of the company for the foreseeable future. Taking part in multiple interviews regarding this recent appointment, The People’s Champion was asked about a potential match with Reigns, which has been long rumoured for a number of years. While The Rock did not explicitly say if he was facing Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, a bold prediction was made by The Great One.
