WWE Star Confirms Injury, Undergoes Surgery

Apollo Crews vs. Johnny Gargano on WWE SmackDown

Another WWE star is on the sidelines after suffering an injury on SmackDown.

On the January 24th episode of SmackDown, Apollo Crews defeated Johnny Gargano in singles action. Crews wasn’t able to fully celebrate his victory, however, as he was injured during the match. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio after the show, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez reported:

Alvarez: “We need to do something here. This is two in a week…..actually three, because Apollo Crews, I checked on that one. He is also hurt. They don’t have an update yet, but yeah, it was exactly what I talked about last night. He took the back cracker. And I don’t know if it’s his pec or his shoulder or what. Yeah, he was hurt.”

Meltzer: “He was grabbing shoulder…”

Alvarez: “So he was injured in that match. And what it is, we don’t know yet, but that’s, that’s now three and in seven days.” (h/t WrestlingNews.co)

Apollo Crews Remains Positive Despite WWE Injury

Now, the star himself has taken to social media with an update, revealing that he tore his pec and would be undergoing surgery shortly. Despite the injury setback, Crews remains positive and is focused on the road to recovery.

A few weeks ago on SmackDown, I tore my pec—an unfortunate situation. Sometimes, you do everything right, but there are just some things beyond your control. I’m looking forward to the road ahead, attacking it with a positive and unstoppable mindset. 👊🏿

And enjoy my clean shave! It has been a while since I have seen this baby face!

Dakota Kai is also sidelined from WWE with an injury.
