CM Punk has named which 5 wrestlers he believes to be the best of all time.
An influential figure for many of the rising stars in wrestling today, Punk has remained a prominent feature in the wrestling world despite the fact that he was absent from in-ring action for 8 years after his WWE walkout in 2014. With the topic of the greatest of all time list and wrestling Mount Rushmores being a common topic in interviews, Punk was asked during an appearance on ESPN’s First Take for his choices.
Stating that his list would be “real out there” and not contain the wrestlers that commonly appear on these lists, Punk initially put Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat on his list but replaced Steamboat with Roddy Piper when asked who got him into wrestling, noting Piper as his number one influence.
Punk’s choices for the 5 best of all time were as follows:
- Harley Race
- Terry Funk
- Stone Cold Steve Austin
- Eddie Guerrero
- Roddy Piper
Also hyping up his return match at SummerSlam in the interview, Punk promised that he would tear Drew McIntyre into 3 pieces and hyped up the rest of the card. Punk will face McIntyre in his return match in Cleveland with Seth Rollins acting as the special guest referee.
CM Punk Hidden Gem Uncovered
Although the entirety of the wrestling world now knows who Punk is in 2024, things were a lot different back in 2003 when CM Punk had his try-out match for WWE. Taking place in a dark match against a legendary tag team, Punk’s match has become one that many fans have highly requested to be released from the archives. Introduced by the man himself, the try-out match has since been made available.
