WWE Star Claims CM Punk Ruined Their Chances Of UFC Fight

A notable member of the WWE roster believes that their chances of competing in the UFC are slim to none following on from CM Punk’s previous performances inside the octagon.

Punk previously competed at UFC 203 and 225 in 2016 and 2018 respectively. Losing both MMA matches, Punk’s time in the UFC has been brought up in promos numerous times on WWE and AEW TV as a dig at the former World Champion.

Speaking with Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall on his Impaulsive podcast, Logan Paul was asked if he had ever considered a fight in the world of MMA. Paul brought up that he was 185 and would compete in the Middleweight division, where the champion is currently Dricus Du Plessis.

When Aspinall asked if Paul had ever asked UFC President Dana White about fighting, the former United States Champion stated that he did but was met with no response:

“I did. I told Dana for UFC 300. I texted him and said, ‘Hey man, consider me available to fight on the undercard in The Sphere.’ He basically completely ignored me, which I think spoke volumes. Haven’t bothered him about it since. But I think for the right fight, the right amount of money, I’m an entertainer at the end of the day,”

“CM Punk F*cked It Up”: Logan Paul

It was then brought up that if Logan Paul were to fight then it would get a lot of interest given how fans feel about the social media star one way or the other. When Aspinall brought up Punk’s time in UFC, Paul laughed and claimed that Punk’s run put an end to pro wrestlers getting a chance in MMA:

“I did [follow it]. He f*cked it up. After that Dana was like ‘I’m never doing this again.’ But dude, I’m not CM Punk. He’s a great wrestler, not a great UFC fighter. I think I would be a much better UFC fighter than I would just a boxer. My skill is wrestling. I am a wrestler. But I think I’ve found a path, I’m a WWE Superstar now. It’s one of the only things I have done in my life where I feel so at home. I don’t know if I want to turn away from that and dedicate time to something that would be a side quest at this point.”

In a separate interview, a former AEW World Champion spoke about CM Punk’s time in the company.

In other news, a major US city is seeking a multi-million dollar partnership to have WWE and UFC come to the area over the next few years.
