Former superstar censored on Cody Rhodes’ show after Kevin Owens’ revelation.
Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes spent time in the independent scene, but under different circumstances. The former was in the indies before joining WWE, while the latter was after leaving the Stamford-based promotion before returning. Interestingly, they have strong opinions about how a former superstar conducted their business there.
On the latest What Do You Wanna Talk About? With Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens joined The American Nightmare, where they discussed their time in the indies. Rhodes shared that before joining the scene, he asked Owens about the pricing, as he wanted to ensure the promoter got his money back, since he saw former superstars who “rob the bank.”
Kevin agreed with Cody and shared that his indie experience was different since he was still not branded as a former WWE star and didn’t have the Rhodes name. Owens said his highest asking price was $600, which was fine for him. However, he heard about ex-superstars who overestimated themselves because they were former WWE talent.
This was then that Kevin Owens name-dropped a former superstar who overestimated themselves and now wasn’t booked much, causing Cody Rhodes to choke on his drink. However, it was censored by The American Nightmare’s neck tattoo.
“And I think, you know (censored), a good example, charged insane amounts of money, which he might have gotten a couple of times at first. And now I think it’s safe to say he has not been booked very much.”
Kevin Owens Compared The Censored Ex-WWE Star To Cody Rhodes’ Indie Run
From the same episode, Kevin Owens brought up the censored ex-superstar again and stated that, although they won championships in the Stamford-based promotion, their asking price was still a lot. The Prizefighter then praised Cody Rhodes as he approached the indie scene with no ego, despite being the more successful one.
“You (Cody) approached it in the best way you could have. You approached it with no ego and no expectation of, even though, so like, again, I hate to bring up the (censored), right? They did stuff in WWE. They were popular guys at a certain level, won some titles, everything. But nothing, their run up until when they ended up getting released and having to go on the independent scene was never compared to the run you had had up to that point.”
Cody Rhodes is set to battle Randy Orton at the King of the Ring tournament finals at Night of Champions, while Kevin Owens is currently out of action due to a neck injury.
