Becky Lynch is not expected to make a WWE return anytime soon.
Ahead of her steel cage match against Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan on the May 27th episode of Raw, news broke that Lynch’s contract expires on June 1st and that she had not re-signed with the company. Losing to Morgan in the main event of the show, fan footage after the show went off the air saw an emotional Lynch exit the cage and wave to the fans. Shortly after this, Becky Lynch posted a further update that featured a photo of her walking out of the arena.
Although many expect Lynch to eventually re-sign with the company if she does decide to return to wrestling as her husband Seth Rollins recently signed a new deal, no further updates have been provided on contract negotiations other than the former Women’s Champion will become a free agent on June 1st.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated that Lynch will be absent for a long time:
“Becky Lynch is taking an extended leave. From what I was told it’s not like a short period of time, she was looking for a long period of time out. If he [Seth Rollins] is not on the road, it makes sense for her not to be on the road. They can’t be hurting for money or anything where they need it right now. Maybe she’s looking at other things, or maybe she’s not. But she’ll be a free agent a couple of days from now, June 1st.”
Seth Rollins is currently recovering after undergoing knee surgery shortly after WrestleMania 40.
Following this report, Becky Lynch officially became a free agent on June 1st after her WWE contract expired.
