A WWE star has now addressed the real reason behind their lengthy absence from the promotion.
Pat McAfee has been away from WWE since June 9. The star has been a regular on the company’s programming, especially RAW and PLEs. However, fans were shocked when McAfee inexplicably disappeared from programming, with the company not addressing the issue as such. Now, McAfee himself has addressed his absence and clarified the real reason behind his leaving the promotion.
Pat McAfee opened up on WWE absence
Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, the star addressed his WWE absence, stating that he just crashed, and that he needed to take a break because of his gruelling schedule, and that he was just tired. The former NFL punter talked about mental exhaustion being the real reason behind his absence.
“I got real tired, man. I crashed. I hit one [a wall]. I’ve been going since Dublin. I’m an energy guy and I don’t need a lot of sleep to operate. I’ve always been that way but I could just feel it. I’m like, ‘Oh my god, my brain is not like operating right now.’ I talked to others that have maybe experienced mental exhaustion before. I’ve talked to them and I’ve been like, ‘Uh, I’m staring down what you went through there.’ I knew this moment was coming. I knew it was going to happen at some point. As Money in the Bank was happening I was like, ‘Oh my god. This is it. I’ve finally hit it.’ I never thought it was going to happen. You add in like my daughter, wanting to be around. The daily show, the travel. Also trying my best, and I know wrestling fans don’t think this, but like I was trying to put everybody over. Like maximum effort every time.”
“I stopped going to Monday Night RAW. Wade Barrett, so good, Corey Graves, so good. Show moves on regardless. The ability to not feel absolutely f*cking terrible for having to take a step back because I’m tired. WWE, they have such a hard work kind of mindset and travel mindset… They’ve been great. I will always love the WWE and I miss it but I’ll tell you what, I don’t think I would have made it.”
It remains to be seen when Pat McAfee will return to WWE and what the future holds for him.
