WWE has been recognised by ESPN as the official Sports Humanitarian League Champion.
Stephanie McMahon, WWE’s interim Chairwoman and CEO, has been talking about her pride after it was announced by ESPN that the sports entertainment giant was to be named the official Sports Humanitarian League Champion. ESPN posted a video to announce the news, with the company stating:
“WWE works hard to provide hope, create inclusion, empower communities, and recognize service both near and far.”
The McMahon matriarch took to Twitter to thank ESPN for the honour and wrote that the company aims to make people smile and change lives through service.
“At our very core, @WWE’s mission is to put smiles on faces the world over. I am so proud of the work @WWECommunity continues to do every day to change lives through the service. Thank you for this incredible honor, @ESPNCitizenship!”

The Sports Humanitarian Awards take place annually, with the winner receiving $1 million in donations for a charity of their choosing. This year’s awards are to be combined with the ESPY Awards on 20 July.
Stephanie recently took over as interim Chairwoman and CEO after the accusations against her father Vince McMahon. It has been reported that there is no real pressure on Vince to leave, after it was alleged he paid several million dollars in hush money to a woman he had an affair with.
There have since been further accusations against Vince McMahon, however, the introduction of his daughter as interim Chairwoman and CEO is a ‘cosmetic’ change, according to Dave Meltzer.
