WWE SmackDown Results – March 15, 2024

This week’s WWE SmackDown featured The Rock in concert, Randy Orton facing Grayson Waller, Bayley vs. Dakota Kai, and more.

It was SmackDown at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee with Corey Graves & Wade Barrett on commentary.

The Rock started the show leading to a huge crowd reaction and plenty of “Rocky” chants before he spoke. The Rock said normally he bashes the fans in the city they are in, but not here because The Rock’s wrestling career started here. Rock mentioned his name was Flex Kavana at that point.

That led to Rock doing a Rock Concert. The Rock did a song about Cody Rhodes being weird while showing a picture of Stardust and also reminding us that Cody was a mistake. The Rock trashed Seth Rollins by saying that his wife (Becky Lynch) was more popular than him and Rock would make Seth’s title disappear. Rock also took a shot at Memphis Grizzlies player Ja Morant for his suspension with a gun last year, so the fans booed that. Rock sang about the Cody Crybabies saying that some of you have sex, but you have to pay cash. Rock said that they were going to kiss the ass of the Final Boss, which is Rock’s nickname for himself. The fans chanted “Rocky” after that.

As The Rock continued, they showed a clip of Cody saying he could hand the WWE Title to his mother Michelle because his father Dusty Rhodes isn’t here anymore. Rock mocked Cody for crying and said: “You’ve gotta be sh**ting me.” The Rock spoke into the camera saying that Cody wouldn’t win Roman Reigns’ belt, but that Rock would give Cody’s mom Michelle his weightlifting belt after Rock beats and bloodies Cody with the belt. Rock said she’ll be crying just like Cody. Rock said he’s going to say: “Michelle, what can I say except you’re welcome.” That’s a line from Rock’s movie Moana. There were “Rocky” chants. Rock: “If you smell what The Final Boss is cooking.” The Rock said that as a statement and not with the charisma he usually has.

Match #1: Legado Del Fantasma – Angel & Berto (w/Elektra Lopez) vs. LWO – Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde (w/Zelina Vega) by pinfall. Legado won after Berto tackled Cruz into the barricade. Back in the ring, Berto launched Wilde and Angel punted Wilde in the ribs. Berto covered Wilde for the win. If Legado wins another match then they qualify for the WrestleMania 40 6-Team Ladder Match for the Tag Team Titles.

LA Knight was interviewed by Kayla Braxton by the entrance area. Knight took over and she went to the back. Knight trashed AJ Styles for not showing up at Smackdown, he knows Styles will show up at WrestleMania so Knight challenged Styles to a match at WrestleMania 40. That led to Styles attacking Knight from behind with a chair to the back. AJ sat on the chair across Knight’s throat: “I accept.” Styles left when officials showed up.

Logan Paul, the US Champion, complained to SD GM Nick Aldis about Randy Orton attacking him and KSI last week. Paul wanted an apology, so Aldis suggested Paul ask Orton for it himself. Paul said that was Aldis’ job and that Aldis couldn’t do his job since he hadn’t found Logan a WrestleMania opponent yet.

The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and “Wise Man” Paul Heyman were shown walking backstage. Kayla Braxton asked Paul if they had a response to Jey Uso’s WrestleMania challenge against Jimmy. Jimmy said that last year at WrestleMania they were together and this year it’s Jey against Jimmy and if you want Jimmy then…YEET. That meant yes.

Match #2: Randy Orton defeated Grayson Waller (w/Austin Theory) by pinfall. Orton won clean with an RKO. Logan Paul was on commentary. After the match, Waller & Theory attacked Orton, so Kevin Owens made the save.

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis interrupted to say he wanted to follow up on the meeting from earlier. Aldis asked if Logan could get that apology from Orton…it’s a no. Aldis said that he’s determined Paul’s opponent for WrestleMania. Aldis said that Paul would defend against Owens and Orton in a triple threat match at WrestleMania. Paul wasn’t happy about it while Orton and Owens seemed to be fine with it.

Match #3: Santos Escobar (w/Angel, Berto & Elektra Lopez) defeated Dragon Lee by pinfall. Escobar won with a Phantom Driver after Lee took out the guys on the floor.

After the match, Legado attacked Lee, but Carlito made the save. Rey Mysterio made the save after that. After Escobar retreated, Rey challenged Escobar to a match next week.

Match #4: New Catch Republic – Pete Dunne & Tyler Bate defeated Pretty Deadly – Elton Prince & Kit Wilson by pinfall. Dunne & Bate hit a double Burning Hammer slam to win.

The win by New Catch Republic means they will face Legado Del Fantasma in the WrestleMania 40 Tag Team Title tournament. Whoever wins that match is the WrestleMania 40 Tag Team Title Ladder Match with six teams.

Match #5: Bayley defeated Dakota Kai (w/IYO SKY, Asuka & Kairi Sane) by disqualifcation. When Bayley started to gain momentum, Damage CTRL attacked her leading to the DQ finish. After the match, Naomi tried to help Bayley but Damage CTRL threw Naomi out of the ring. Sky hit Over The Moonsault on Bayley and Damage CTRL posed over Bayley to end the show.
