The Crown Jewel 2022 go-home edition of WWE SmackDown further set the scene for the event in Saudi Arabia and was headlined by an Intercontinental title match between Rey Mysterio and champion Gunther.
As reported by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, WWE SmackDown pulled in 2,138,000 viewers with a 0.48 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic. By contrast the previous week’s show – broadcast on FS1 – drew 835,000 viewers. It is worth noting that the show on November 4th was taped a week in advance due to many of the crew being in Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel the following day.
The show opened with a No Disqualification Match between Liv Morgan and Sonya Deville. The pair have been locked in a rivalry since Morgan lost her SmackDown Women’s Title at Extreme Rules. Morgan again picked up the win as she continued her descent into madness.
Elsewhere, there was another promo segment from Bray Wyatt, while the Brawling Brutes… brawled with The Usos with the New Day also involved. It was announced that the Undisputed Tag Team Champions will face the New Day on the November 11th episode of the show. There were also wins for Shayna Baszler and LA Knight, while Gunther retained his Intercontinental Championship with victory over Rey Mysterio.
