WWE reportedly signs Colby Corino
According to recent reports from Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net, WWE has signed former NWA talent Colby Corino.
Previous reports had suggested Corino, who is the son of former ECW Heavyweight Champion and current WWE trainer Steve Corino, would be headed to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida for a tryout following the completion of his contractual obligations on December 31st 2022.
Corino is expected to land in NXT to continue his development and has recently been wrapping up loose ends on the independent scene before heading to WWE.
He recently wrestled a ‘Last Dance’ match against Homicide for Catalyst Wrestling and made a final appearance alongside fellow members of ‘The Ugly Ducklings’ Rob Killjoy and Lance Lude for PWF, based in North Carolina.
He has been briefly seen on WWE television before, appearing on the ill-fated WWE Raw Underground experiment. Supposedly the brainchild of Shane McMahon, the fight club-esque segments originally appeared promising but soon ran out of steam despite appearances from main roster stalwarts such as Dolph Ziggler and Braun Strowman.
Perhaps the only notable new name to emerge from Raw Underground was Dabba-Kato, who has gone on to achieve limited success on the main roster under the Commander Azeez gimmick.
Corino will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of his Father, who was a popular in-ring star himself and enjoyed success not only with ECW but also in ROH, where he held the ROH Tag Team Championships with partner Jimmy Jacobs.
