WWE Potentially Shifting John Cena’s Final Match To Heat Up AEW Battle

John Cena’s retirement match could potentially be shifted as WWE plans to counter-program AEW once again.

John Cena is set to wrestle in his final WWE match sometime in December. The star’s final opponent has not yet been determined, but it seems the promotion has already planned ahead. Cena is currently on his farewell tour with only nine or so dates remaining. One of those dates will see him in action against Logan Paul at Clash in Paris. The star will also face off against Brock Lesnar in another epic fight.

However, fans were eager to know who the final match will be against and how WWE is planning for that. It seems the promotion is keen to make the most out of the Cena farewell tour. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the match was supposed to take place sometime in the middle of December but is now being shifted to the end of December to clash with AEW Worlds Collide, which is set to take place on December 27 later this year.

Originally, the final John Cena match was gonna be in early December at Saturday Night’s Main Event. This is not confirmed, but it does look like there is now a discussion that that date will be moved so it will be head-to-head with AEW Worlds End.” [H/T WrestleTalk]

WWE Also Planning John Cena Vs Brock Lesnar To Clash With AEW All Out

This comes after it was already reported that WWE could be planning the final Brock Lesnar vs John Cena match for an yet-unannounced September PLE. The PLE could see Cena take on Lesnar one final time in their careers before the former rides off into the sunset. However, WWE seems to be planning this around AEW All Out on September 20.

According to Andrew Baydala, the unannounced PLE could be Bad Blood.

It remains to be seen how things will shape up and whether Cena and Lesnar can outdraw Cope and Christian Cage’s hometown popularity. The WWE vs. AEW rivalry seems to be heating up as two new chapters in the saga are set to be written.
