On the June 20th episode of NXT, Seth Rollins returned to the brand to defend his World Heavyweight Championship against Bron Breakker.
After an impressive outing, Rollins earned the win, only to be attacked by Finn Balor minutes after having his hand raised. Balor and Rollins are due to meet in the ring at Money In The Bank, and the Irish star attempted to take The Visionary out of action on Raw.
Once the show went off the air, Rollins addressed the crowd and paid tribute to the World Champions such as Shawn Michaels that had come before him. WWE has now shared footage of HBK greeting Rollins as he came backstage, with the WWE Hall of Famer thanking him for returning to NXT and expressing how proud he was.
In response to the footage, Rollins wrote on Twitter that he wouldn’t be who he was without Michaels’ influence.
“Everybody you meet plays a part in who you are. Some more than others… Without Shawn, I never step foot in a wrestling ring. Probably never meet my wife. Never have my kid. Reflecting on this moment, I feel immense gratitude across the board. We’re nothing but lucky to be experiencing life.”
