WWE Legend Rey Mysterio Breaks Character To Finally Praise Dominik Mysterio

WWE legend Rey Mysterio recently praised his son, Dominik Mysterio.

WWE legend Rey Mysterio finally went out on a limb by giving props to his son, Dominik Mysterio.

The Ultimate Underdog previously stated that he would tip his mask to Dirty Dom if he wins the AAA Mega Championship. The latter did exactly just that by dethroning El Hijo Del Vikingo at Worlds Collide, with the help of El Grande Americano. Rey then reluctantly put the AAA Mega Championship around Dominik’s waist, crowning him a double champion as he’s also the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion.

In an interview with the Club 520 podcast, The Ultimate Underdog was happy to see the growth of his son’s character over the years and wished that he had learned that during his heyday.

To see his growth over the past four years and how he just evolved into this character and embraced it and just now completely owns it is awesome, man. His confidence is… I wish I had some of that when I was his age, and I wish I knew what he knows now when I was his age. I had no clue. I was learning as I was going,” Rey revealed.

The former WWE Champion pointed out that the AAA Mega and Intercontinental Champion’s rise was due to the fact that he was immediately ushered into the main roster, despite no proper training from the developmental system and an NXT stint.

But I think the huge factor in this is he was… he was thrown in right away to swim with sharks and he figured that out. He learned how to swim with sharks. So, you know, I think personally that’s why he’s in the spot that he’s in now,” he added.

Rey and Dominik Mysterio started as a tag team known as The Mysterios and were former SmackDown Tag Team Champions. The latter turned heel at Clash at the Castle and joined The Judgment Day the next night on RAW on September 5, 2022.

Rey Mysterio’s WWE In-Ring Status Revealed

Rey Mysterio is currently out with an injury, but was able to make it to AAA’s Worlds Collide event in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A new report has emerged that the WWE Hall of Famer is now close to returning and will be at the WWE Performance Center for conditioning and as part of return guidelines.

With what transpired at Worlds Collide, it will be interesting to see if the former WWE Champion will challenge his son, Dominik Mysterio, for the AAA Mega Championship, a title he never won before in his many years as the greatest luchador in history.
