WWE have released a statement responding to claims made by the newly released Keith Lee who suggested that he paid his own medical bills during his recent health issues.
Keith Lee was released by WWE on November 4th alongside 17 other Superstars from the main roster and NXT. At the time of his release Keith Lee had just received something of a makeover, which included a new name, Keith “Bearcat” Lee and wrestling in new gear.
After being called up to the main roster in the summer of 2020, Lee featured prominently before disappearing from television in early 2021. The star later revealed that he contracted COVID-19 before being diagnosed with a heart issue.
Following his release, Lee posted a lengthy statement on social media thanking fans for their support, but that wasn’t all. In the same statement, Lee said that he had paid his medical bills, describing it as “amusing” to suggest that anyone else had done so.
WWE have now issued a statement of their own responding to the claims made by Lee. The company went on to call Lee’s comments “erroneous.”
“Keith Lee’s recent comments implying WWE failed to pay his medical bills are erroneous.
WWE has an extensive healthcare program for the medical care of its in-ring performers and Mr. Lee was part of this program while with the company.
Should Mr. Lee have any concerns over the payment of medical bills, he is welcome to address them with WWE.”
‘Limitless’ Keith Lee signed with WWE in 2018 following stints with Ring of Honor, Evolve and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla. Lee initially appeared on NXT winning the North American and NXT Championships.
