WWE Reportedly Set To Turn Top Star Heel

WWE Roster

After a jam-packed SummerSlam weekend that saw returns and surprises aplenty, a new report has suggested WWE is set to turn one of their top stars heel.

Becky Lynch made her shock return at SummerSlam after being out of action for over a year as she gave birth to her first child in December 2020. With rumours of Lynch’s imminent return swirling the fans inside Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas were caught on the hop when The Man came around.

Bianca Belair was due to defend her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship in a rematch from the main event of WrestleMania 37 against Sasha Banks. It was announced at the event that Banks was unable to compete despite the match being up in the air up to a week before after the pair reportedly missed live events.

As Banks was unable to compete, Carmella was announced as her replacement despite Belair already defeating her the night before SummerSlam on SmackDown. As the two women got ready to face off again, the familiar strains of Becky Lynch’s music filled Allegiant Stadium as Las Vegas came unglued. The Man stormed to the ring before taking out Carmella and challenging Belair then and there to put the title on the line against Lynch. Belair accepted and might wish she hadn’t as Becky Lynch defeated Belair in just 27 seconds to begin her fourth reign as WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion.

Now Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that there are plans in place within WWE to turn Becky Lynch into one of the top villains on SmackDown. Initially, it is believed that Lynch will continue her feud with The EST of WWE as Belair looks to reclaim her title after the shock loss.

The report also mentions that Lynch had been spending time at the Performance Center with NXT’s Indi Hartwell as part of the process to gain clearance for her return. Lynch was reportedly set to return to the company in October but the situation with Banks necessitated a hastier comeback for Lynch.
