Braun Strowman is reportedly on WWE’s radar to make a swift return to the company as the company reacts to the potential big names heading to All Elite Wrestling.
Former WWE Champions CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are both reported to be heading to AEW with a date making the rounds for a potential debut in the company for Bryan.
Now Dave Meltzer has noted in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE could be looking to bring back some other old faces of their own, writing:
“There is interest in bringing Strowman back especially after recent AEW signings.”
Former WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman was surprisingly released from his WWE contract on the 2nd of June alongside Aleister Black, Ruby Riott, Buddy Murphy, Lana, and Santana Garrett. Recent AEW signee Mark Henry has previously spoken of AEW and Strowman’s “mutual interest” in each other.
Black has already made his AEW debut, now going under the guise of Malakai Black. He was able to make a debut in the company earlier than expected as it turned out that he had only a thirty-day non-compete clause in his contract rather than the standard ninety.
Swift returns are nothing new for WWE. Samoa Joe made his NXT return just weeks after he had been given his release from the company. Since then Joe has revealed that Triple H called him to keep him in the company just hours after John Laurinaitis had called to release the star from his contract.
Zelina Vega also made her own WWE return just months after she was released from the company in late 2020. Vega was a casualty of WWE’s new policy on its stars working with third-party platforms but she returned in July, going on to compete in the women’s Money In The Bank match that was won by Nikki A.S.H.
