WWE is considering moving the ThunderDome to Tropicana Field, as reported by The Wrestling Observer Radio.
WWE has until December 5 to vacate The Amway Center, home to the ThunderDome, ever since it’s inception on August 21, as a means to re-introduce a live fan experience into WWE’s shows.
The company had previously been without live crowds since March due to the COVID pandemic. The no crowd era had led to a somewhat sterile environment for its television product, which the ThunderDome has enlivened.
The Amway in Orlando, Florida is home to the Basketball team, Orlando Magic. The Magic are set to begin preparations for the new NBA season which starts in December.
That has necessitated a need for WWE to move on. Reportedly, Tropicana Field is the leading contender to be the ThunderDome’s new home.
Tropicana Field is also based in Florida, in St. Petersburg and is home to Baseball side, the Tampa Bay Rays.
Other possibilities to move the ThunderDome going forward are to Texas and Illinois.
However, as St. Petersburg is in central Florida, close to the WWE Performance Center and where many WWE roster members live, Tropicana Field appears to be the leading contender.
