At long last, Chelsea Green is back in WWE.
Rumors have been swirling for months that the star was on her way back to the sports entertainment giant as they had “significant interest” in re-signing Green after she was released back in April of 2021. Earlier this month, it was reported that she had indeed signed a deal “quite some time” ago, but neither Green nor WWE confirmed this information and she remained absent from the company’s programming.
However, during the 2023 Royal Rumble in San Antonio, TX, Chelsea Green finally made her return, entering the match as a surprise entrant at number 20. Her participation in the match didn’t last long, though, as she was eliminated by Rhea Ripley in just five seconds. Ripley went on to win the match and earn herself a title shot at the upcoming WrestleMania in Los Angeles, CA. Full results from the event can be found here, and a full list of the surprise entrants in both Royal Rumble matches can be found here.
Chelsea Green Feels Robbed After Her Royal Rumble Elimination
Speaking to Sarah Schreiber after her quick elimination, an enraged Chelsea Green declared that she was “robbed” and that she was going to “report” everyone involved taking away her chance to go to WrestleMania. Her behavior indicates that she’ll be portraying a Karen-like character with a huge sense of entitlement. Video of the interview can be seen below.
After stints with Lucha Underground and IMPACT Wrestling, Green signed with WWE in 2018. Although the star had appeared on WWE television previously in 2014 and on the sixth season of Tough Enough.
Upon signing with the company, Green competed on NXT before moving to SmackDown in November 2020. However, the former Knockouts Champion got injured during her debut match and didn’t feature for the company again before being released the following April.
After leaving WWE in April 2021, Green headed out onto the independent scene alongside husband Matt Cardona. Green has since appeared in the NWA, ROH and most recently IMPACT Wrestling.
