WWE Referee Aja Smith Announces Wedding Date With Released NXT Star

Aja Smith celebrating with Leon Ruff after winning NXT North American Championship

WWE Referee Aja Smith has announced her wedding date with former NXT North American Champion, Leon Ruff.

Aja Smith and Leon Ruff announced their engagement in December of 2020 when the couple was still appearing on NXT. Shortly before the engagement, Ruff became the NXT North American Champion after defeating Johnny Gargano.

Aja Smith then ventured on to call matches on the main roster, while Ruff was released from the company in August of 2021 due to budget cuts.

Regardless of Ruff being released, the couple has continued on with their relationship and now have an official date set for their wedding, as announced by Aja on Instagram.

Aja noted in her post that the couple has been engaged for nearly two years and they expect to get married exactly one month from when the post was published. With that being said the couple is expecting to get married in the early days of September.

Leon Ruff made his AEW debut on the May 1st, 2022 taping of AEW Dark. He faced off against Tony Nese, but fell short and was defeated by Nese. He then went on to debut on AEW TV on the June 17th episode of AEW Rampage where he teamed up with Bear Country to face the Gunn Club and Max Caster, only to fall short once more.

Ruff has had it quite rough in AEW (pun intended) as he has yet to pick up a victory since his debut with his last recorded loss being against The Gunn Club and The Acclaimed when he teamed up with Bear Country and Fuego Del Sol.
