The December 5th edition of WWE Raw emanates from the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. and was set to feature an Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship bout as The Usos defend their title against Matt Riddle and Elias.
Ever since Elias returned to WWE Raw in mid-October with the announcement that his brother Ezekiel had stepped away from in-ring competition, Matt Riddle has been trying to form a band with the musician. Though initially reluctant to accept Riddle’s offer, the two have grown closer as they both had issues with Alpha Academy, and they were granted a title opportunity against The Usos.
However, at the beginning of WWE Raw, it was revealed that The Bloodline had attacked Elias before the show. Undeterred, Matt Riddle revealed that he’d found a new tag team partner in Kevin Owens, who is looking for retribution against The Bloodline and Sami Zayn after the events inside WarGames at WWE Survivor Series.
Meanwhile, JBL will be holding a high-stakes invitational poker tournament on WWE Raw. He has been seen playing poker backstage with Baron Corbin in recent weeks, no doubt a nod to his time as Bradshaw in the APA during the Attitude Era. In recent weeks, he has been hyping up Baron Corbin, calling the star the “modern day Wrestling God.”
The December 5th WWE Raw is also set to feature two star-studded triple threat matches with huge title implications. All six women participating in the triple threat matches have previous reigns as Raw Women’s Champion.
The first bout will see a face off between Bayley, Rhea Ripley, and Asuka, while Becky Lynch, Nikki Cross, and Alexa Bliss will take each other on in the second. The winners of both matches will face off next week, and the woman who goes on to win that singles match will be the new number one contender for Bianca Belair’s WWE Raw Women’s Championship.
Becky Lynch recently made her return from injury at WWE Survivor Series, where she competed alongside Asuka, Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, and Mia Yim to take on the team of Bayley, Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, Nikki Cross, and Rhea Ripley. Lynch scored the pinfall victory for her team.
