The December 12th episode of WWE Raw saw Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley go head to head in the main event for the chance to become number one contender to Austin Theory’s United States Championship. Near the end of the match, Lashley applied the Hurt Lock, but as the two men struggled, the referee was knocked out of the ring, rendering him unable to keep track of the action.
In the end, when the referee recovered, Seth Rollins defeated Bobby Lashley with a Pedigree. Enraged, Lashley, got in the referee’s face, and when another official came out to calm the situation down, Lashley knocked him out. This brought WWE authority figure Adam Pearce into the arena to confront The Almighty and make the shocking declaration that he had been fired from WWE as a result of his actions.
As reported by Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, the December 12th episode of WWE Raw pulled in 1,472,000 viewers with a 0.37 rating in the 18-49-year-old demographic. This is a decrease compared to last week’s WWE Raw, where the red brand drew 1,536,000 viewers with a 0.41 rating in the key demographic.
Elsewhere on WWE Raw, Alexa Bliss and Bayley opened the show with another number one contender’s match, this time vying for the opportunity to face Bianca Belair for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship. To the surprise of some, Bliss managed to defeat the Damage CTRL leader as Bianca Belair sat ringside to check out the competition. Belair made her way to the ring to congratulate her next challenger, raising the title above her head as she gestured for a handshake.
However, just when it appeared Bliss was rejecting the handshake in favor of a hug, she grabbed the champion and put her in position to deliver a Sister Abigail as Bray Wyatt‘s moth logo flashed in the background. Before she could deliver the move, she came to her senses, and she apologized to the confused champion as she exited the WWE Raw arena tearfully, shaken by this turn of events.
Bliss commented on her actions on WWE Raw, calling the night “weird.”
