WWE sent a special shoutout to the rock legend Ozzy Osbourne this week on Monday Night RAW.

Osbourne had his farewell concert named “Back to the Beginning” on July 5 at Villa Park in Aston, Birmingham, England. The venue was also the birthplace of Black Sabbath in 1968, with him serving as the lead singer.

During this week’s episode of RAW, color commentator Corey Graves sent a congratulatory message to Osbourne following the latter’s successful final gig. He then proceeded to declare the latter as the “greatest to ever do it.”

“Wanna send a very special congratulations to WWE Hall of Famer, The Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne, on his farewell performance this past weekend in Birmingham. The greatest to ever do it,” Graves exclaimed.

Ozzy Osbourne and WWE through the years

Ozzy Osbourne’s first appearance came on April 7, 1986, at WrestleMania 2, during the height of the Rock’ N’ Wrestling era.

Osbourne and Captain Lou Albano managed The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid) to a WWE Tag Team Championship victory against The Dream Team (Greg “The Hammer” Valentine and Brutus Beefcake).

23 years later, The Prince of Darkness returned on RAW during the November 2, 2009 episode. He and Sharon Osbourne had a special moment with D-Generation X (Triple H and Shawn Michaels) and even held a RAW Got Talent.

The rock legend’s contribution to sports entertainment culminated in a spot in the WWE Hall of Fame celebrity wing on April 1, 2021.
