The April 17th episode of WWE Raw featured plenty to like in terms of in-ring action, but one match in particular turned heads backstage.
Ahead of the show, it was announced that Seth Rollins would take on The Miz in singles action. The two last clashed back in February, and Miz declared he wanted to get his career on track by beating Rollins as he’s one of the top stars on the red brand.
Miz launched an attack on Rollins before the bell even rang, interrupting the crowd as they serenaded The Architect with his theme tune. The two showed intensity in the back and forth bout, and Miz had fans on the edge of their seats when he got his knees up to counter a frog splash before rolling up Rollins for a very close two count. In the end, Rollins was victorious following a Stomp.
According to a new report from Fightful Select, the backstage reception to the match was overwhelmingly positive.
Trish Stratus Explained Her Actions On WWE Raw
Elsewhere on the April 17th episode of WWE Raw, Trish Stratus took to the microphone to explain her vicious attack on Becky Lynch the previous week. She began by insisting that she alone was the one to revolutionize women’s wrestling in WWE.
“When I first came to WWE, women’s wrestling was a joke, and I proceeded to single-handedly change everything. I brought credibility to a non-existant women’s division and I know you some of you are going to say it was ‘Trish and Lita,’ no, no, no, no, there was no we. It was just me. I was the women’s division.”
Stratus went on to confirm that she had attacked Lita a week earlier, before turning her attention to Lynch and her future. The former Women’s Champion declared that isn’t a nostalgia act, but is the greatest of all time.
“Trish Stratus is nobody’s sidekick. This [poses] is no a sidekick. It was getting a little sad, and even a little embarrassing, so I had to take Lita out of the picture, to put her out of her misery. Yeah, I did that, just to be clear, cause you guys are a little bit slower, I did that.
I took out Lita, and yeah the reason that I needed Lita out of the picture is because I needed it to be crystal clear that the person who screwed Becky Lynch out of her titles was me. I am not a nostalgia act. I am not your childhood fantasy, and I’m sure as hell and nobody’s sidekick. I am the greatest of all time, and I am the single most important figure in the history of WWE and I’m here to make sure none of you forget it.”
