WWE Pushing For The Rock To Compete At International Show

WWE Pushing For The Rock To Compete At International Show

WrestleMania 40 may not be the only time in 2024 that The Rock competes in a WWE match.

As seen in his latest appearance on March 1st, The People’s Champion laid out a monumental WrestleMania challenge to Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. The proposed match was a tag team match that would see Rock and Roman Reigns face Rhodes and Rollins on night one of WrestleMania. If Rhodes and Rollins win, the Undisputed title match on WrestleMania Sunday would see The Bloodline banned from ringside. However, if Rock and Reigns were victorious, the match between Reigns and Rhodes would be anything goes.

On the next episode of SmackDown [March 8th], Rhodes will confront The Great One to give his answer, likely setting up the match for April 6th. While this will be The Rock’s first major match in over 10 years, it appears that it won’t be his last.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a belief that The Rock will be competing more than once this year, with one of the Saudi Arabia shows being a location for a future Rock match, likely against Reigns:

The next Saudi Arabia PPV is 5/25, which will be the day before AEW’s Double or Nothing show. When there was an attempt by some to get Rock to move to a later date with Reigns and keep Cody Rhodes in the spot (while Nick Khan and Ari Emanuel had made the deal, there were people who felt that since the spot was promised to Rhodes last year and they’d been building it, have it be Rhodes at Mania and Reigns-Rock in Saudi with the idea of garnering more money, this would have been that date.

When asking if Rock will be working that show, we’re told there are a lot of variables in play and a variety of factors but obviously the company would like it if he would. But while nothing is set in stone, the belief as of right now is that Mania won’t be his only match in 2024 and there is definitely a push to get him to work at least one Saudi Arabia event this year.

It was previously reported that WWE would be returning to Saudi Arabia in late May, meaning that 2 Premium Live Events will be held that month.

On top of the booked and hopeful matches, there will be the return of a legendary segment featuring The Rock.

The Rock Continues To Build To WrestleMania ShowDown

With WrestleMania less than a month away, the company are gradually upping their promotion to get fans excited for the weekend of action. In a rather unexpected move, The Rock dropped a 21-minute promo on his social media, explaining the WrestleMania discourse and ultimately launching an expletive-filled response to Cody Rhodes.
