WWE Provide Update After Terrifying Botch Halts SmackDown Match

WWE SmackDown

WWE has provided a health update on two stars after a terrifying botch caused their match on SmackDown to be stopped.

During last night’s edition of WWE SmackDown, NXT’s Carmelo Hayes made an appearance and appeared to begin contract negotiations with General Manager Nick Aldis to be brought to the main roster. However, the two were interrupted by Austin Theory and Grayson Waller.

After a verbal back-and-forth, Hayes laid down a challenge to Waller who turned him down but offered a match with Theory instead. Aldis admitted he liked the idea and made the match official for later in the show.

Unfortunately, however, a winner was never determined in their clash later that night. During their match, Theory attempted a jumping Spanish Fly onto Hayes who was sitting on the top rope that went awry.

Hayes seemed to slip from Theory’s grasp midway through the flip, resulting in Theory landing on the side of his neck while Hayes fell directly onto his own head and collided with Theory’s face on the canvas. The match ended via referee stoppage shortly after with the conditions of both men unknown.

After SmackDown went off the air, WWE thankfully provided a positive update on the duo. In a post to their official X account, the company revealed that the two had only suffered bruises to their faces and miraculously incurred no further injuries.

Shortly after, Hayes provided an update of his own to fans. In a post to his X account, he seemed to let everyone know he was okay by posting a humorous GIF of The Undertaker sitting up from a coffin at ringside. Theory, on the other hand, has yet to comment.
