WWE President Nick Khan has revealed future plans in regards to how where the company wants to host future Premium Live Events.
The company has expanded its international reach even further in 2024 with shows confirmed to take place in Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, France and Germany. This is also on top of the Elimination Chamber event that took place in Perth, Australia back in February. With no big shows based in the United States between WrestleMania and SummerSlam, fans in Europe are able to watch multiple shows live in the evening as opposed to waking up in the early hours. According to Khan, this is set to continue.
Speaking with the Sports Business Journal, the plan for the foreseeable future is for the top 5 shows to remain in North America with the rest airing around the world
“We sat down together a few years ago and decided, so the big five premium live events [WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, Money in the Bank] should be in the United States or Canada. All of the other events, the goal is to have them from international locations. It’s over and over until we’re back in the United States, I think, in October for one of our premium live events. There’s a halo effect on those big deals. Merchandise sales, relevancy goes up, and who knows — is the next Yao Ming of that country watching [WWE] and wanting to do it in 10 years.”
With Khan’s update confirming future plans, this, unfortunately, means that a UK WrestleMania looks to be unlikely anytime soon, which was teased by John Cena at Money in the Bank 2023 in London.
With confirmed locations announced up until August 31st, this means that more international events are set to be announced for the remaining events in 2024, which will include the second annual event in Saudi Arabia.
