WWE WrestleMania Plans in Jeopardy as Injury Woes Continue; SmackDown Star Dealing With Fracture

WWE’s injured list is growing at a concerning rate.

With WrestleMania less than 10 weeks away, all the top stars are expected to be featured in big matches on the grandest stage. Unfortunately, the company has been forced to make multiple pivots to adapt to multiple members of the roster suffering serious injuries. Along with Charlotte Flair suffering a major injury and being out for most of the year, WrestleMania was dealt another huge blow on January 29th as CM Punk confirmed that he is injured and also won’t be back in time for the marquee event in Philadelphia.

In a new update, another WWE Superstar is currently working through an injury. As reported by Dave Meltzer, Kevin Owens competed at the Royal Rumble with a fractured foot. The injury took place on January 5th when Owens faced off against Santos Escobar on SmackDown. At the Rumble, Owens would unsuccessfully challenge Logan Paul for the United States Championship.

As noted on Wrestling Observer Radio, this is why Owens has been out of action in the lead-up to the match:

He broke his foot in the match with Santos Escobar which is why he hasn’t been wrestling for the last couple of weeks. But he did the match with Logan Paul. And hopefully, it’s healing better. I didn’t even notice that he was injured. A couple of people started asking if he broke his foot in that match and the actual answer was he broke his foot three weeks ago.

Will Kevin Owens Compete At WWE’s Biggest Show?

It is currently unknown what is next for Owens in regards to recovery and being able to compete at WrestleMania. While injured stars Charlotte Flair and CM Punk were set for major title matches in April, it remains unclear what the original plans for Owens are in regards to WrestleMania.

With the WrestleMania card being drastically affected, WWE is looking to make major changes.
