WWE Planning Flagship Event In Netflix Priority Country

Details Emerge On How WWE Content Will Be Shown On Netflix

WWE is again possibly going International.

Almost two years ago, WWE toured India and hosted the ‘Superstar Spectacle’ event in the Southern city of Hyderabad. Seth Rollins and John Cena headlined the 2023 show against The Imperium.

A few years before that, in 2017, WWE Live India Supershow took place in Delhi, where Triple H and Jinder Mahal faced off against one another. In 2021, during the Thunderdome era, a Superstar Spectacle event also aired on India’s Republic Day (26th January) and featured several talents of Indian heritage.

Over the years, India has emerged as one of the most loyal fan bases of the promotion. On April 1st, the promotion is set to debut on the Indian Netflix, after having aired on the Sony Sports Network (formerly TEN Sports) since 2002.

Recently speaking to the Hindustan Times, WWE President Nick Khan discussed the promotion’s plans for hosting a flagship event in India by 2026 or 2027.

“That’s the goal, and we’re pencilling out 2026 and 2027 now. In one of our first meetings with Netflix after the deal was signed. Without asking, Netflix handed us a list of their priority countries. At the top of that list was India. And knowing that the race would come into play on April 1 in India, if it’s important to Netflix, assume it’s important to us. India has always been important to us. So we’re pencilling it out now, and let’s wait and see.”

While the promotion had several Indian talents in its roster over the past few years, several of them were released. Names such as Jinder Mahal, Sanga, Veer, and Shanky were released.

CM Punk Is Set To Fulfill This 20-Year-Long WWE Dream

On the March 28th episode of SmackDown, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and CM Punk gathered together for their WrestleMania 41 contract signing. While Reigns and Rollins put pen to paper, The Second City Saint took his time going through the agreement. However, soon enough, Paul Heyman announced that CM Punk is now all set to fulfill his 20-year-old dream at WrestleMania 41.
