This popular WWE NXT Champion is now open to an MMA career.
Earlier this year, on the 7th January episode of NXT, Oba Femi defeated Trick Williams and Eddy Thorpe to win his first NXT Championship. Since then, Femi has been on a dominant run, crushing his opponents with ease.
The powerhouse has now eyed a career in mixed martial arts. Ahead of the NXT Battleground PLE, Femi appeared in an interview with Jim Varsallone and discussed his interests in venturing into MMA.
“See, that piques my interest. I actually do have some interest in doing that and if it’s convenient and I have the opportunity to, I would definitely jump on it… TKO.”

WWE and UFC are both under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella, and often stars from both brands have appeared at each other’s respective shows.
Femi boasts a background in athletics before joining World Wrestling Entertainment, and is next scheduled to defend his gold against Myles Borne at NXT Battleground on May 25th.
Oba Femi Once Made A Bold Claim About His WWE Main Roster Run
Last year, during an interview with Adam Barnard of The Takedown on SI,Oba Femi made a bold prediction about his eventual main roster run.
“I want to take what I’ve done here in NXT, and that is, redefine what the big man style is, plan to take it up there and throw it in the mix. I’ve shown that the typical big man, the new big man, let’s call it that. The new big man is a talker, the new big man is a thinker, and the new big man moves fast.
“I hope that I can go to the main roster, and show that to the world on a bigger platform than NXT. The main roster is the bigger audience.”
