New reports suggest that the majority of the WWE locker room are unhappy with the company’s treatment of former WWE Champion, Big E.
2021 was the year of Big E as The New Day star broke out on his own, becoming Mr. Money In The Bank in July. A switch to Raw soon followed and he cashed in his briefcase on Bobby Lashley in September, becoming WWE Champion for the first time in his career.
As the clock chimed to bring in a new year, it also chimed in a stark reversal of fortunes for Big E. At Day One on New Year’s Day, the star lost his WWE Title in a Fatal Five-Way match to Brock Lesnar. Lesnar was a late addition to the bout after his original opponent Roman Reigns had to pull out of the event due to COVID.
However if Lesnar’s late arrival into the WWE Title scene had people thinking the company had made a quick decision on a new WWE Champion, reports surfaced to say that Big E was always going to lose his title at the event, but the original new champion was set to be Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins.
In the run-up to the Royal Rumble, Big E was among the favourites to win the men’s Rumble match and head to WrestleMania to reclaim his crown. However, when the match came, Big E entered at number 26 and didn’t even manage a single elimination before being unceremoniously sent packing by RK-Bro.
Wade Keller of PWTorch has now reported that the WWE locker room as a whole is not happy with what is being seen as a ‘de-push’ of the popular star:
“I’ve asked around, and all I’ve gotten is people who are really upset, you know, with the rug being pulled out from under him, and I haven’t heard anything about there being an awareness of an issue with him and I think the people I have asked would know.”
”But, I mean, one person just described him as a magnificent human being who doesn’t deserve this treatment.”
Big E is now back on SmackDown by the side of his New Day partners Kofi Kingston and King Woods. Kingston and E teamed up recently on the blue brand to defeat Los Lotharios.
