WWE NIL signee Peyton Prussian has officially signed a contract with NXT.
Back in 2021 it was reported that with changes coming to NXT, WWE were set to revamp their entire hiring process. Gone were the says of recruiting the best wrestlers from across the independent scene, instead the company were looking to recruit star athletes right out of college to mold into Superstars of the future.
This led to the creation of the “Next In Line” program which aimed to provide a pathway from college sports to sports entertainment. Successful signees would then put pen to paper on NIL contracts (Name, Image, Likeness). The first major name to sign one of these deals was Olympic gold medalist Gable Steveson.
Now, according to a new report from PWInsider, college wrestling standout Peyton Prussian has now signed a full time NXT deal after she was signed to an NIL deal earlier this year.
Prussian previously wrestled for Life University, where she won multiple NAIA championships. She is also skilled in several martial arts and has been a fan of sports entertainment since she was a child.
“The WWE Could Not Have Picked A Better Athlete” – Life University Coach On Peyton Prussian
Speaking to FloSports in January of 2023, Life University wrestling coach Ashley Flavin had this to say about the standout performer after she signed her NIL deal.
“For the past several years, Peyton has not just been one of the faces of Life University women’s wrestling program, but of women’s collegiate wrestling. She’s a high-performance athlete who is fun to watch and cheer on, not just because of her skill on the mat, but because of her personality.
“She’s fun, energetic, playful, caring, and joyful, but extremely focused and competitive when it’s time to work. We are thrilled for Peyton to have this partnership with WWE and excited to have a whole new group of fans opened up to her, our team, and the sport. The WWE could not have picked a better athlete for this opportunity.”
