WWE Want Multi-Time World Champion To Return To Challenge Roman Reigns

Roman Reigns WWE Universal Champion

Roman Reigns will next defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Logan Paul but following this, could another crossover star come for his titles?

Having reigned as WWE Universal Champion since Payback 2020 and as WWE Champion since WrestleMania 38, Roman Reigns has solidified his status as the face of modern wrestling, so much so that WWE wants to promote him in yet another marquee cross-platform encounter.

Per Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s current plan is to have ‘The Tribal Chief’ eventually collide with multi-time boxing World Champion, Tyson Fury. No indication was given as to when, exactly, the match will occur, but a grand stage would be required for such an occasion.

The two shared a staredown following ‘The Tribal Chief’ defeating Drew McIntyre at Clash At The Castle, leading many to believe that ‘The Gypsy King’ was en route to challenge Reigns at Crown Jewel on 5 November. As confirmed in a press conference on 17 September, though, that will be Logan Paul.

Fury, a two-time World Heavyweight Champion in boxing, has made sporadic WWE appearances, which even led to his in-ring debut vs. Braun Strowman at the 2019 Crown Jewel pay-per-view. Prior to Drew vs. Roman being confirmed, it was rumoured that Tyson would face ‘The Scottish Warrior’ at the 3 September event.

As it stands, it’s unknown if Tyson Fury will actually return to the squared circle. His next scheduled boxing fight is 3 December vs. Anthony Joshua.
