The WWE Royal Rumble is fast approaching, and as anticipation builds ahead of the January 28th event in San Antonio, fans are speculating about who might be appearing inside the Alamodome.
While the company has already confirmed a number of current Superstars as entrants in both the men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches, there are plenty of spots available leading into Saturday’s show. In addition to speculation about potential call-ups to the main roster from developmental brand NXT, there’s also plenty of buzz about who the sports entertainment company may be interested in bringing into the fold from outside promotions.
A new tweet from the company’s media partner BT Sport added major fuel to the fire of speculation that former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White may be leaving New Japan Pro Wrestling and heading to WWE.
The tweet listed five bold predictions for the January 28th event, and among those predictions was that Switchblade himself would be making an entrance in the Royal Rumble.

Despite reports that a WrestleMania appearance from the Great One is off the table, BT Sport also believes Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson will be coming back in the Rumble.
WWE Is Said To Be “More Than Pleased” With The Surprises They Have In Store For The Royal Rumble
One man whose return is guaranteed to return on Saturday is Cody Rhodes, who has been out of action since undergoing surgery for a torn pectoral muscle back in June. Though many fans expected his return to be a poorly-hidden surprise, the company began airing vignettes about the injured star on the December 26th episode of Raw, and on the January 16th episode, it was officially announced that he’d be returning to in-ring action on January 28th inside the Alamodome.
According to a new report from WrestleVotes, the company’s decision to announce Rhodes’ return ahead of time came down to the fact that people assumed it was happening, but also that the sports entertainment giant is “more than pleased” with the other surprises it has lined up.
“Asked a source the reasoning behind Cody’s Rumble return being announced as opposed to a surprise… Source said it’s twofold, one being that nearly everyone expected it to happen already & two, source states they are ‘more than pleased’ w/ the other surprises that are lined up.”
