WWE Matches Still Being Impacted By “Secret Rule”

Roman Reigns & The Usos WWE SmackDown

The main event of WWE Night of Champions was an action-packed thrill ride that ended with Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn retaining the Undisputed Tag Team Titles.

While a title retention might not seem all that exciting on paper, the result was only a fraction of the story. The match played out in front of a raucous atmosphere, with the Saudi Arabian crowd in love with Owens and Zayn and the match itself was fast-paced chaos.

This hit a peak when The Usos interfered in the match and accidentally Superkicked Solo Sikoa, before Jimmy Uso stunned all involved by delivering not one, but two, Superkicks to Roman Reigns. The confusion enabled Zayn and Owens to take down Sikoa and grab the win.

Interestingly, the match also briefly lifted the lid on a rule that WWE keeps secret from fans. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan Alvarez picked up on the referee shouting “That’s your one save” when a pin was broken up. Alvarez added that the rule has long existed in WWE, but the company has always kept it hidden.

“Speaking of rules, we didn’t mention it when we were reviewing the Saudi show, but there was a moment, I think it was in the main event where somebody made the save and the referee screamed, ‘That’s your one save!’ The secret rule that they still, after all of these years, they’ve never told us about but it is in fact a real rule and only the wrestlers know about it and they build their matches around this secret rule that we don’t know about.”

Roman Reigns To Leave WWE?

Despite the defeat at Night of Champions, Roman Reigns still stands tall over WWE having now held the World Championship for over 1000 days. Reflecting on Reigns’ recent success, Kurt Angle believes that it will take him out of WWE and into Hollywood within five years.
