After years of claims that they rely too much on veterans and part-time stars, WWE is seemingly making a push to promote younger Superstars.
It has been reported by Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that there is a push to get younger talent on Raw and SmackDown.
“There is a big internal focus right now to get younger aged talent on Raw and Smackdown right now”
The move could bode well for a number of up-and-coming stars in NXT with the likes of Cora Jade, Roxanne Perez, Bron Breakker, and Tiffany Stratton all 25 years old or younger.
Meanwhile, SmackDown Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley is only 26, and her stablemate Dominik Mysterio is the same age. United States Champion Austin Theory is also only 25.
The report comes after it was reported in April that WWE is attempting to update the history books with names that will be more recognisable to younger fans. It has been claimed this is the reason why Bianca Belair has racked up the longest-reigning Women’s Champion of the modern era, and Roman Reigns has stood tall over the roster for just shy of 1000 days.
