Report claims WWE are searching for a “major attraction” to replace a recently scrapped top match at WrestleMania 38.
The ramifications of Shane McMahon’s recent WWE departure are still being felt, and have seemingly stretched as far as WrestleMania 38.
Shane McMahon only returned to WWE at the 2022 Royal Rumble, but amid speculation about backstage heat and confrontations with both Vince McMahon and Brock Lesnar, he was gone less than a week later. Furthermore, it was revealed ahead of his exit that he was scheduled to perform at Elimination Chamber and then WrestleMania 38.
McMahon was reportedly planned to be part of the WWE Title Elimination Chamber match, which would have set up a match with Seth Rollins at WrestleMania.
A new report has confirmed that McMahon was heading for a match at the top of the card, and now WWE are searching for a “major attraction” as a replacement. The report from Wrestle Votes, adds that the card for WrestleMania 38 is in “complete flux.”
Source states the spot Shane McMahon was going to have on the WrestleMania card was to be positioned near the top. Therefore, WWE now needs a new “major attraction” matchup outside of the titles. This goes w/o saying, but the WM card is still in complete flux. It’s quite amazing.

Shane McMahon began working with WWE in the late 1980’s as a referee. He later transitioned into a backstage role before returning to television during the Attitude Era. During this period he competed in a number of famous matches, performing a number of death-defying feats along the way.
Ahead of his Royal Rumble appearance, McMahon had last wrestled at WrestleMania 37 where he was defeated by Braun Strowman in a Cage Match.
To date only two matches have been confirmed for WrestleMania 38. Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar, while Charlotte Flair defends her SmackDown Women’s crown against Ronda Rousey.
Becky Lynch will also defend her Raw Women’s Championship against the winner of the women’s Elimination Chamber match on February 19th.
