WWE Looking To Make Raw Star A “Top Guy For A Long Time”

WWE Raw set

When Vince McMahon ‘retired’ from WWE in July 2022, many fans thought that this would spell the end of Austin Theory’s rise to the main event.

It had been something of an open secret that McMahon was a huge fan of Theory, and was determined to make him a top star. However, that hasn’t proven to be the case. Theory is the current United States Champion having picked up a number of high-profile wins in recent months.

It also appears that the star is heading for a huge WrestleMania clash with John Cena. The 16-time World Champion is set to return to Raw on March 6th.

Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reiterated that the match between Theory and Cena is on the way, adding that the young star is seen as a “major project” by the company.

”Austin Theory vs. John Cena for the U.S. title. Theory is clearly a major project to be a top guy for a long time.”

WWE Raw Boosted By John Cena’s Return

Ahead of John Cena’s return, it has been reported just by being advertised he has already boosted ticket sales. The report stated that WWE has sold more than 2000 tickets since it was confirmed that Cena would be appearing at the TD Garden in Boston.

Speaking after his latest United States Title defence on Raw, Austin Theory was in a bullish mood about Cena’s comeback. After earlier questioning why Cena had taken all of the headlines meant for him after his victory at Elimination Chamber, Theory promised to give the WWE a “warm, warm welcome” when he appears on Raw.
