Shawn Michaels is widely regarded as one of the greatest professional wresters of all-time. Such is the Heartbreak Kid’s standing in the industry, fans are always on the look out for who will assume his mantle as the the best wrestler of their era. Interestingly, WWE legend Kurt Angle says that Seth Rollins could well be that man.
Since joining WWE in 2010 Seth Rollins has won pretty much every major honour there is to win while also being an integral part of one of the most important factions of the modern era in The Shield.
As well as racking up the accolades, Rollins has also become known as someone who will always deliver inside the ropes. In fact, in 2022 Rollins’ stock has arguably never been higher after an impressive run of matches with Cody Rhodes, and clashes with Matt Riddle.
The Hell in a Cell clash between Rollins and Rhodes back in June was awarded a five-star rating by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It was the first WWE match to receive the rating in more than a decade.
Seth Rollins Is An “Incredible Performer” – Kurt Angle
Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast The Kurt Angle Show, Angle said that while Rollins has got a little way until he’s on Michaels’ level, he’s well on the way.
“You know what? It’s not too much of a leap to say that he is the next Shawn Michaels. I believe he will be eventually. He is not there yet because Shawn put in a lot more years. So you know, 30-something years.”
Expanding further, Angle hailed Rollins as “an incredible performer.”
“He does remind me of Shawn because everybody he wrestles, he has five-star matches with. I mean, when you have that kind of chemistry with everyone, you’re an incredible performer. And I think Seth Rollins is a lot like Shawn Michaels.”
Seth Rollins is the current United States Champion and was most recently in action on October 17th edition of Monday Night Raw where he defeated Matt Riddle.
