As Roman Reigns’ dominant run at the top of WWE continues, the Tribal Chief is quickly running out of challengers.
Reigns has already defeated Brock Lesnar more than once, former champions, Hall of Famers and even YouTube stars, leaving many to wonder who will be the person to bring this run to an end. For a number of months it was believed that this Superstar could be Dwayne Johnson in huge WrestleMania showdown. However, The Rock’s participation at the event appears to be far from certain leaving fans to wonder about alternatives.
Roman Reigns Vs Cody Rhodes?
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer, Bully Ray, believes he has the answer. With Cody Rhodes well on the way towards an in-ring return, the former Bubba Ray Dudley said that this could set him on target for a match with Reigns. The veteran explained as that both Rhodes and Reigns are from famous wrestling families, that could form the basis of the feud resulting in a match at WrestleMania 39.
“We have the Rhodes family versus the Anoa’i family. Now Cody comes back at the Rumble and goes on to win the Rumble, you have three-and-a-half months of solid storytelling around that. I don’t think you can wait until WrestleMania next year.”
After returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, Cody Rhodes declared his intention to win the WWE Championship — The title his father famously never won. Unfortunately, during his feud with Seth Rollins, Rhodes suffered a serious pectoral injury which has kept him side-lined since June.
However, videos and vignettes featuring the American Nightmare have been a feature of WWE programming in recent weeks, seemingly confirming that a return will happen soon. It has long been rumoured that Rhodes will be back inaction at the Royal Rumble on January 28th. It has already been announced that Roman Reigns will defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Title at the event against Kevin Owens.
