In a recent appearance on D-Von Dudley’s YouTube channel, former WWE and ECW star Rhyno took fans on a nostalgic journey through some of his most memorable ‘Gore’ moments. The wrestler, known for his signature move that mimics a rhino’s charge, shared insights into the physicality and impact of his famous finisher.
One of the most talked-about incidents in Rhyno’s career was his devastating Gore on Chris Jericho through the SmackDown entrance set. Reflecting on this moment, Rhyno expressed disbelief at Jericho’s survival.
I’m surprised he survived that. I actually knocked my head on the [set] when it popped down.
Describing the sheer force behind the move, Rhyno painted a vivid picture, underscoring the physical toll such high-impact moves can take on both the giver and receiver.
Freight train of momentum, mass, intensity…I’m going to have to rate that like over 100, maybe for the speed, intensity. That’s a gore times more.
Interestingly, this dramatic moment served a dual purpose for WWE. While it created an unforgettable spectacle for fans, it also paved the way for a significant set change. The following week, WWE debuted a new “SmackDown” set, introducing the iconic “SmackDown” fist that would become a hallmark of the show’s aesthetic for years to come.
But Jericho wasn’t the only superstar to feel the full force of the Gore. Rhyno fondly recalled his encounters with other wrestling giants, such as The Rock and The Big Show.
When I hit The Rock with the gore…or The Big Show. I ran and jumped off–we had the stairs, it was a hardcore match, in the ring. I jumped off of that, I think I almost had to because he was so tall.
This anecdote highlights the adaptability required in pro wrestling, especially when facing opponents of varying sizes. Rhyno’s ability to modify his already impactful move to suit different scenarios and opponents speaks to his skill and creativity in the ring.
