A pro wrestling legend of the ’90s stated that CM Punk had proved on Monday Night RAW that he could easily expose a popular WWE star.
The main event of WWE Clash in Paris on August 31 featured four stars fighting for the World Heavyweight Championship. Among the challengers were CM Punk and LA Knight, two guys who have issues with the titleholder, Seth Rollins.
While Punk’s Rollins problem is a bit stronger, Knight managed to jump in front of the line during the build. The Best in the World and The Megastar’s paths crossed many times, with the former turning the tides on the latter whenever he wanted to by stealing the “YEAH” chant.
WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash pointed this out recently, bringing up his past comments on LA Knight. Two years ago, when Knight experienced a surge in popularity, Nash claimed that The Megastar was ripping off some legends from the previous era, like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. The veteran faced severe backlash from fans.
Kevin Nash later explained that he does not want to hurt LA Knight’s efforts to put food on the table, and ultimately buried the hatchet with The Megastar.
Kevin Nash Uses CM Punk’s Promo To Explain Why LA Knight Is Unable To Break The Glass Ceiling In WWE
LA Knight is a two-time United States Champion already, and remains supremely over among fans. However, his bookings have raised some concerns, as despite being featured in the main event scene, there appears to be a hierarchy.
Knight’s first shot at the World Heavyweight Championship was booked on RAW after SummerSlam with no build-up, even though he had picked up a noteworthy win over Seth Rollins before Rollins cashed in.
On Kliq This, Kevin Nash noted that CM Punk was able to overtake LA Knight in their recent interactions, and time has proved that his observations were right.
LA Knight is in a position where he is over, but he is over because of a formula that works when we all were over, like catchphrases–watching him and CM Punk, Punk is organically over, and any time Punk wants to, he can make [Knight’s] sh** look weak by fu**ing mocking his shtick,” Kevin Nash said.
The Hall of Famer did, however, put over LA Knight’s work ethic, adding that he has no interest in being the “bitter old guy” badmouthing a wrestler from the new generation, especially one that fans love. But then he added that time had proved his point.
