WWE Legend Claims Dwayne Johnson Could Still Do A Good 30-Minute WrestleMania Match

The Rock - Dwayne Johnson Steve Austin

Although Dwayne Johnson remains one of the biggest stars that wrestling has ever seen, it has now been ten years since he wrestled a proper match.

Not only that, it has been more than 20 since he wrestled anything resembling a full-time schedule.

However, Johnson’s sheer star power and lack of a retirement match mean that he’s consistently being linked with a return to the ring. In the months before WrestleMania 39 it was widely believed that WWE wanted the Hollywood megastar to return to take on Roman Reigns. Despite this, the match never ended up taking place, reportedly as Johnson felt he didn’t have time to get into “ring shape.”

As soon as WrestleMania 39 ended, speculation began around a potential match at WrestleMania 40, with the man himself dropping a hint that it could be a possibility.

Speaking on his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show, Kurt Angle praised the star formerly known as The Rock for keeping fit, commenting that he would be able to wrestle a 30-minute match if he wanted to.

“He really trains hard, and he has been able to keep his body young and active. When you watch him train, he does a lot of not just weight training and stuff, he does a lot of plyometrics and stuff like that. I believe that he could still wrestle. I believe if he wants to do it, he could put in a good 30-minute match at WrestleMania. I don’t doubt that for a second. He’s able to take care of his body as much as he has lately. I don’t see it being a problem for him.”

Dwayne Johnson To Compete At WrestleMania 40?

Over WrestleMania weekend The Rock teased that a match with Roman Reigns could still happen. However, this is far from a guarantee that a match will actually take place. It was reported after the event that Johnson’s comment was “far from a commitment and certainly nothing anyone should count on happening.”
