Former WWE Producer Dan Rykert has recalled inviting a WWE legend onto one of the company’s podcasts only to be met with a demand for “a bunch of money”.
Over the past few years, the number of pro wrestling podcasts has exploded with big names like Kurt Angle, Jim Ross, and more recently William Regal all starting their own series. WWE has taken notice of the trend and begun launching its own exclusive podcasts, with Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions and Corey Graves’ After The Bell attracting legendary guests over the past few years.
However, it’s not always plain sailing to get someone to appear on these shows, as former WWE producer Dan Ryckert found out when he was asked to secure WWE legend Sid for After The Bell.
Speaking on his Twitch stream, Ryckert explained that the legend had two conditions for an appearance.
“I called Sid once while he was doing landscaping stuff. He was yelling at someone about installing a fence. He said he had a landscaping business, and Sid said he needed a bunch of money to be on the Corey Graves show, and also, he asked me if I’d be his podcast producer and I said no. That’s my Sid story.”
Sid competed under several names throughout a legendary career that saw him headline both WrestleMania 8 against Hulk Hogan and WrestleMania 13 against The Undertaker.
He captured the WWE Championship on two occasions, first winning it from Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series in 1996. The Master and Ruler of the world also laid claim to two reigns as WCW World Champion during his time in that company.
