Kurt Angle and The Undertaker are two legends who have a long and storied history together in the WWE. The two wrestlers faced off against each other countless times, with many memorable matches that have left a lasting impression on fans.
One of their earliest encounters was at the Fully Loaded pay-per-view in 2000, where The Undertaker emerged victorious after a hard-fought match. The memorable show also featured a highly anticipated last man standing match between Triple H and Chris Jericho, as well as a cage match for the Intercontinental Championship between Rikishi and Val Venis.
Over the years, Angle and The Deadman faced off against each other numerous times, including in a classic at WWE No Way Out 2006, where Angle pinned The Phenom and retained the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The title match was a gruelling 30 minutes long and is still remembered as one of the best matches of the era.
The Undertaker Had A Positive Influence On Kurt Angle’s Career
Despite their on-screen rivalry, Angle has often spoken about ‘Taker being a positive influence on him early in his WWE career.
Recently, Angle shared a humorous story about trying to get The Undertaker to break character on his podcast, The Kurt Angle Show. Angle recalled a time when the two wrestlers were in Japan and had just finished a match. As they shook hands, Angle initiated a hug and surprised The Undertaker by planting a kiss on his lips. The Undertaker was reportedly not pleased with the unexpected display of affection and jokingly warned Angle that it was “a long plane ride home.”
However, Angle’s actions did manage to get The Undertaker to laugh and thus break character, a rare occurrence for the typically stoic wrestler who was well-known for his inability to be “broken”, despite numerous attempts by his peers at making him crack over the years.
