Following their loss of the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships on last night’s SmackDown, WWE has confirmed injuries to both Randy Orton and Riddle.
The closing segment of last night’s SmackDown saw Roman Reigns and The Usos lay waste to RK-Bro. This came after Jimmy and Jey Uso were successful in their quest to become the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, ending Randy Orton and Riddle’s second reign as Raw Tag Team Champions at 74 days.
Together, The Bloodline brutally assaulted RK-Bro with the steel steps, with Riddle also being sent crashing the announce desk with an Uso Splash. Both he and Randy Orton were then choked out after being trapped in Roman Reigns’ Guillotine Choke.
While both are undergoing medical evaluations, WWE has confirmed that Riddle has suffered a bruised hip and lower back due to the assault. The full WWE statement reads:
“As a result of a vicious attack by The Bloodline in the wake of SmackDown’s Tag Team Title Unification Match, Riddle has suffered a bruised hip and lower back and both he and Randy Orton are undergoing a medical evaluation.”

It was reported prior to SmackDown by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer that the current plan is for Riddle and Randy Orton to challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at Money In The Bank and SummerSlam, respectively. Reigns isn’t currently scheduled for Hell In A Cell, allowing the continuation of this feud into the summer.
The possibility of a formation between Randy Orton and Riddle was first teased a week after WrestleMania 37, with the latter suggesting a tag team with the multi-time World Champion. They officially united on the 16 August broadcast of Raw, and went on to capture the Raw Tag Team Championships that weekend at SummerSlam.
It’s unknown when, exactly, they’ll return to WWE programming.
