WWE is making a change to WrestleMania that is a huge benefit to international fans.
Nicknamed the wrestling Super Bowl, the show very much caters to the casual fan with celebrity appearances, musical performances and all of the top stars competing over the two-night event. As such, the biggest show on the calendar is also the most viewed due to interest from around the world, especially as the Premium Live Event is now included as part of a subscription instead of the hefty standalone pay-per-view price.
While this is a massive benefit, one of the biggest drawbacks for international fans has been the late start time. With the show traditionally starting at 8 pm, which is 1 am UK time and 2 am in mainland Europe, many choose to not stay up late. According to a new report, more fans outside of North America may watch the show live.
As reported by WrestleVotes, the event will begin one hour earlier, meaning that it will start at midnight on both nights for fans in the UK:
Source states WWE has made the decision to change the WrestleMania start time. The main card will now begin at 7pm EST, presumably with a kickoff show starting at 5pm EST. This will be for both nights of WrestleMania.
Multiple WWE Plans Altered For The Biggest Show Of The Year
Although at one point the company appeared to have plans set in stone for the biggest show of the year, multiple unforeseen circumstances have caused major alterations. The main change is due to CM Punk being injured and announcing that he will miss the show in April, as many believed that Punk would face Seth Rollins in the main event of night one.
