During WWE Survivor Series on November 22, WWE Network officially announced an exciting new series of documentaries which will be labelled ‘WWE Icons.’

Beginning in 2021, ‘WWE Icons’ will be a set of standalone documentaries on some of the biggest, best and most celebrated wrestlers to have ever stepped into a WWE ring. While no concrete details have been released as of yet, the company have given its fans a trailer to whet the appetite.

During the series trailer, it is confirmed there will be documentaries on Rob Van Dam, The British Bulldog, Lex Luger, Yokozuna and Beth Phoenix. While it’s unknown whether these stars will make up season one or this will be a rolling show with no end date remains to be seen.

Recently, it was revealed that Davey Boy Smith Jr. – the son of The British Bulldog – had been filmed extensively by WWE training and competing at Josh Barnett’s Bloodsport III for footage on a documentary of his father. It would appear this was the project WWE were planning all along.

Davey Boy Smith ‘The British Bulldog’ will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame over WrestleMania 37 weekend in March 2021, joining his documentary compatriots Yokozuna and Beth Phoenix.
