‘WWE Icons: Beth Phoenix’ Air Date Announced

By Paul Sinclair. Published 20th March 2021.

Edge has announced that the ‘WWE Icons’ documentary episode detailing the career of Beth Phoenix will air on March 28th.

The WWE Hall of Famer and husband to Beth Phoenix took to Twitter to announce the upcoming documentary:

“Just slightly stoked to announce my much better half @TheBethPhoenix has her #Icons documentary airing starting March 28 on @peacockTV & @WWENetwork

#Glamazon”

Beth Phoenix first signed with WWE back in 2004, appearing for the company’s developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling. Phoenix would make her main roster debut in May 2006 as an ally to Trish Stratus, however, she returned to OVW after a fractured mandible completely severed her jaw.

Phoenix would make her return to the main roster in 2007, dubbing herself ‘The Glamazon’. She would go on to play a pivotal role in the women’s division, becoming a one-time Divas Champion and three-time Women’s Champion.

Beth Phoenix would retire from in-ring competition in 2012 and was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame five years later. Following a few sporadic returns to the squared circle, Phoenix joined the NXT commentary team in 2019.

Beth would take to Twitter to comment on the upcoming documentary, noting how surreal she finds the whole thing:

“I used to daydream at #ElmiraNotreDame during my classes and at my shifts at #LightsBakeryabout the tights I would wear…my entrance music…the moves I would do…I wish I could express how surreal this is…

The first edition of ‘WWE Icons’ featured legendary Anoaʻi family member, Yokozuna. Future episodes will feature Lex Luger, Rob Van Dam, and “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith, the latter being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame ahead of WrestleMania 37.
